A Beach Journal:
Walks Along Anna Maria Island
Please note: The photos accompanying these Beach Journal posts are iPhone snapshots taken during my walks along the shore. They offer a glimpse of what I see and what inspires each painting. The photographs are not for sale and are not intended to replace the original artwork created from them.

Every day, I walk along the beaches of Anna Maria Island.
Some days the sky is bright and still, other days it’s overcast and windy. The light changes, the water shifts, and the shoreline offers something new each time. These walks are where I slow down, notice small details, and gather moments that often become the starting point for new paintings.
This journal is simply a place to share those walks. I hope you enjoy my walks as much as I do!

Bean Point
Read more: Bean PointToday’s walk led me straight to Bean Point—and it wasn’t a coincidence. Just beyond them — maybe ten or fifteen feet inland — one solitary, smaller bird was walking with purpose in the opposite direction, heading away from the water. There was something quietly charming about that contrast:…

A Windy, Overcast Gift on the Beach
Read more: A Windy, Overcast Gift on the BeachSome days just hand you a gift, and today was one of those days. I usually start my walk on the north shore of Anna Maria Island, at a place called Park Avenue — wouldn’t you know it. From there, I head up past the Sandbar and continue about three-quarters of the way toward the Point. It’s not a long walk, but it adds up to around 8,000 steps. I kind of shimmy my way up the beach — sometimes dancing, sometimes skipping. Today was more skipping than…
