Some pelicans like to make an entrance, and this one did it with style. He settled onto the aqua-blue water as gracefully as a feathered ballet dancer, sending soft ripples radiating out around him. The reflection beneath him was so clear it felt like I was getting two pelicans for the price of one—hence the title. His gray feathers, arched neck, yellow head, and black-and-white beak were all perfectly composed, as if he’d practiced this pose in advance. He glanced at me out of the corner of his eye with a look that said, “Don’t I look elegant?” And honestly… I had to agree.
